Starchasers
Starchasers is our parish wide Sunday morning club for 6-11 year olds. Our aim is to tell the children about God in a creative & engaging manner - and to have a lot of fun too.
Each session features a range of activities including games, crafts, bible stories, creative prayer and small group time. And at the end of each term we award prizes for the kids who’ve earned the most stars.
We meet on the second and fourth Sundays of each month in St. Andrew’s School and each session runs from 10.45am to 12.15pm.

Scorpion Football
Scorpion football is a fun, fast-paced, 3-a-side version of the game that promotes teamwork and skill. Each match is 3 v 3 with just one goal deciding the winner and the winning team stays on until they are beaten. Teams are assigned on the day so you can just turn up by yourself and play.
Scorpion football takes place on Wednesday afternoons during term time at St. Andrew’s school and there are two sessions - one for 7-11 year olds and one for 11-16 year olds:

THE GAP
THE GAP is a club to support those who are either side of the gap between primary and secondary school. It meets every other Monday and it’s for Years 6, 7 & 8 (about 11-13 years old).
The aim will be to look at who Jesus is and what He has done. We’ll use music, films and other media to see what other people say about Him. We’ll use the bible to see what it says. And we’ll be asking what we think about Jesus and what that means to us.

Assemblies
We currently help with assemblies at two local schools - St. Andrew’s School & Thornhill School.
For Spring term (January to April) 2008 we are looking at the events of Easter, Ascension & Pentecost and in particular the involvement of Peter in them.
For Summer term (May to July) 2008 we are looking at the fruit of the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” - Gal 5v22-23 (NIV)
If you would like us to help with assemblies at your school, or any other type of school’s work, then please contact our Children’s Worker, Stephen Mawhinney (contact details at the bottom of the page).
Events
Throughout the year we hold various one-off events. The three main events we organise are:
Superheroes Party: On Halloween night (31st October) for 6-11 year olds. The Superheroes party has been running for about 6 years now and its a fun evening where we play lots of games, eat food and it ends with a fancy dress parade. Kids are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite hero with prizes for the best costumes.
Pancake Party: On Pancake Tuesday. This is one of our biggest events of the year and is open to all families and children. This year we had over 75 kids and between them and the adults we worked our way through over 400 pancakes. To read more about the 2008 Pancake Party click here.
Summer Barbeque: This summer we’re hoping to have a family barbeque for to the whole Parish. That’s still someway off at the moment but we’ll post more information here closer to the time. And when the weather gets a bit more summery.
And check back here later for more information on other events closer to the time.
