This Lent at COTC we are committing ourselves to reading the whole New Testament in 40 days.
Traditionally lent has been a time for reflection, self-sacrifice, rededication and self denial. I was challenged by my own sermon on Sunday evening about our failure to really open ourselves up to the Bible, to let it shape and challenge our thinking, stir our hearts and infuse our lives.
So who is up for a challenge this Lent?
Instead of giving up chocolate again how about doing something really positive, and join us in reading through the whole New Testament in 40 Days? It will take some serious commitment – 3 or 4 chapters twice a day. But what a great thing to do whether it is for the first time, or once again.
“The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword…”
We will be reflecting on the process together, and holding each other accountable so that it doesn’t fade out half way through. You can sign up, download the reading plan and follow the reflections on our new ’40 days’ blog here.
This is such a good idea. I’ve only just seen this as I’m not a part of your local church but I’ll try and catch up. I read M. M. L. & J. last year and lost steam at the Acts. But I think if you do it communially, you feel more committed.
