Northumbrian Blessing

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you, wherever he may send you. May he guide you through the wilderness and protect you through the storm. May he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you. May he bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.

St Patrick’s Breastplate (extract)

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in the words of friend and stranger.

A prayer of Theresa of Avila
Let nothing disturb thee,
Nothing affright thee
All things are passing
God never changes.
Patient endurance
Attains to all things;
He who God possesses
In nothing is wanting;
Alone God suffices.

Prayer inspired by John 15
Lord, we know that You are the vine and we are the branches,
That without You we cannot bear fruit but will whither and die.
Help us to abide in Your love in the midst of this community.
Help us to recognise You in the life of the Church and to grow as faithful disciples.

Blessing from the Liturgy of the City

May you be interrupted, frustrated, delayed and disrupted. And in that moment may the Kingdom of heaven be revealed in you. May your eyes be Christ’s eyes, Your hands Christ’s hands. And your words Christ’s words For this is where you have been placed, here in this beautiful brokenness, this urban wilderness. May you die to yourself and serve the people of this city. To the Glory of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

The Grace
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all evermore.

The Peace
May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep our hearts and minds in the love of Christ, now and forever.
